We asked the Candidates to share with us a question they have about our faith. We have received a great number of them too! We will include some of them in the coming sessions in 2017, but there are so many and I want to address some of them on the Blog.
So, our first question that I want to address on the blog fit the liturgical season we are in: What do the 4 weeks of Advent mean?
Here is a quick list of the themes with one way to explain the weeks of Advent, but you might be able to come up with a different meaning of that word and meaning in your life.
- The 1st Sunday of Advent symbolizes Hope with the “Prophet’s Candle” reminding us that Jesus is coming.
- The 2nd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Faith with the “Bethlehem Candle” reminding us of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem.
- The 3rd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Joy with the “Shepherd’s Candle” reminding us of the Joy the world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus.
- The 4th Sunday of Advent symbolizes Peace with the “Angel’s Candle” reminding us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.”
I also want to share with you a video that helped explain to me the spirituality of this season for me by Bishop Robert Barron from Word on Fire.
Blessings to you in this season of waiting and preparation! May Christ’s presence be experienced anew in the coming Christmas season!
