Overview

The Confirmation program at St. Peter Chanel is designed to help our youth come to a deeper understanding of how the Holy Spirit works in our lives and in the life of the Church, and to a deeper appreciation of how being open to the presence and action of the Holy Spirit in our lives can draw us into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

1st Year of Foundation (7th grade year)

The first year of Confirmation preparation begins in 7th grade. Candidates are to receive Catholic foundation by registering and attending St. Peter Chanel Parish School of Religion EDGE or GIFT sessions or by attending an Archdiocesan Catholic school. The school needs to verify that the student is enrolled.

2nd Year Foundation (8th/9th grade year)

This is a year of inquiry for the Candidates. It is a time to explore the Catholic faith by engaging in the life of the parish (experiencing the Sacraments, prayer, and participating in service with other members of the parish), asking questions and joining in regular prayer, all the while encouraged to grow deeper in relationship with Christ. All candidates  are are expected to attend a Summer Confirmation Conference at the end of their 8th or 9th grade year.

Confirmation Year (10th grade year)

During the final phase of Confirmation preparation, candidates are encouraged to continue to delve deeper in the life of the church through participation in the Youth Ministry program. Candidates are challenged to grow deeper in relationship with Christ and explore more service and active involvement in the parish community.
